Magellan Development topped off the 101-story Vista Tower as the project edges closer to being crowned the third-tallest building in downtown Chicago’s expansive skyline. Construction workers laid the final beam of the tower's steel frame, Magellan said.
At 1,191 feet high, the $1 billion skyscraper, designed by nationally known Chicago-based architect Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang, is expected to be one of the most sought-after addresses in the third-largest U.S. city. It spans 363-401 W. Wacker Drive in the Lakeshore East neighborhood, where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan.
Price tags on Vista Tower’s 396 curated condominiums range from $1 million to $18.5 million for a two-story, 10,640-square-foot space on the 71st and 72nd floors, with an 8,000-square-foot outdoor terrace. The building, which is planned to include a 191-room luxury Wanda Vista hotel, is jam-packed with amenities.

Plus it boasts of having a theater and private dining suite with a demonstration kitchen. And in a first for Chicago: a Tesla electric car-sharing program. Residents can schedule rides with a mobile app on their phones.
“The topping out of Vista Tower marks a momentous occasion, not just in our construction timeline, but also in the impact that Vista Tower has on the Chicago skyline,” said David Carlins, Magellan’s president, in a statement. “The tower can now be seen soaring among other super tall buildings.”
